Two nights after the election, a friend of mine suggested this paradox: it seems Barrack Obama doesn't care about humans who aren't "living" yet and it appears as if John McCain doesn't appear to care about those who are already living. And you know what? That seems to be a pretty good assessment of the candidates, at least from a certain "moral" perspective. I'm sure I'll have more reflections on the Obama presidency as things go forward, but for now, I'm going to try to convince myself that he's going to be a great president. Just as VM said, he has a good chance of getting lucky.
So hopefully now that the election is over I'll get to do a few things:
1) Read the NY Times every morning over breakfast and now want to toss my Cheerios all over the table;
2) Add Real Clear Politics back to my favorites and even set it as my home page;
3) Pontificate even more about how wonderful Thomas Friedman and Maureen Dowd are as writers, people and my candidates for the presidency in 2016.
With all the being said, since I haven't reentered the political realm, here's a really cool job.
This post is going longer that I expected, but a few other thoughts:
a) There are a few blogs to which I always link: The Shyster, Hardballtimes, and BaseballReference. I'm going to try to get out of the box, so to speak. Time for finding more links. Just assume that anything you really need to know about baseball can be found on these sites.
b) I'm kind of excited for the Mets next year; in fact, I'm very excited. There is a large void in my sad life right now.
c) I'm in need of a winter sports obsession. After consultation with Virginia (Blue State) (Even though it hosted Bull Run) Matt, I'm going to make myself into a college basketball nut.
